Environmental Assessment

Class Environmental Assessment: Meaford Christie Beach Study Area

A Class Environmental Assessment had been initiated in October 2019 by Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities (Parkbridge) as the Proponent to undertake a Master Plan Study following the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Planning process for the Christie Beach EA Study Area, identified in consultation with the Municipality of Meaford. Subsequently, the scope of the Study Area has been reduced due to the current status of other development applications in the area and based on discussions with the Municipality and will focus on the proposed Parkbridge Meaford (Christie Beach) development.

As a result of the change in scope and based upon direction from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), the Schedule “B” Class EA initiated in October 2019 for the Christie Beach EA Study Area will be closed, as it is no longer subject to requirements under the Environmental Assessment Act.

Parkbridge will be proceeding with assessment of servicing infrastructure associated with the Parkbridge Meaford Development by conducting a Master Servicing Study in place of the EA. The Master Servicing Study will include review and discussion of various servicing alternatives in coordination with the Municipality of Meaford and appropriate agencies. The Master Servicing Study will inform the development applications for the forthcoming Planning Approvals process. Future information and notifications will be provided through the Public Planning Approvals process, including at least one statutory public meeting.

This Class EA Study is being completed in support of future development applications under the Planning Act, which will soon be submitted to the Municipality of Meaford and the County of Grey. This Master Plan Study will follow the planning and design process for Schedule “B” projects as described in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015), published by the Municipal Engineer’s Association. Consultation with the public, stakeholders and government review agencies is an important component of the Class EA process. A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be scheduled during the course of the study to present and receive comments on the project, alternative solutions and the preferred solution for servicing the Study Area. A Notice of PIC will be published in the future. In addition, there will be an opportunity to review the final Master Plan Report.

Information will be collected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and all comments will become part of the public record. If you have any questions or comments or wish to be added to the mailing list to receive project information, please contact:
